It’s a nasty word.
These past few weeks I’ve felt an array of negative situations flicking me on the back of the head. I brush them off and they just weasel back and keep flicking, even when I throw them the big ‘ol bag of positivity. The sad, yet unavoidable truth is that negativity ruminates and one person or comment can bring the morale of an entire group down. And you have to fight to be above it.
It is a true challenge trying to find a solution that will turn one’s perspective around and keep you positive, while simultaneously trying to prevent the negativity from ingraining itself into the minds of uninvolved parties. It’s a challenge that everyone will struggle with, but one that will make you stronger in the end.
How we internalize and react to negative events or comments ultimately decides how they will affect us in the end. After dealing with numerous situations in varying contexts, I feel as though I have learned how to approach people with a positive, forward-looking mindset that leaves them no option but to move on.
And then I repeat this in my head a few times.
If people are trying to bring you down, it only means that you are above them.
It only takes one negative comment to kill a dream.
Breathe in the future, breathe out the past.
